"Yellow Flowers", 38th Annual Western Federation of Watercolor Societies Show |
What Deanna Thibault Is Doing Right Now
Deanna's "Yellow Roses" was shown at the prestigous 38th Annual Western Federation of Watercolor Societies Exhibition in 2013. This show was hosted by the Southwestern Watercolor Society of Dallas, TX. Now that she lives in North Texas, Deanna hopes to join this society very soon.
Deanna, five other Tucson water media artists and well known Tucson photographer Don Knight regularly show at various venues in Southern Arizona. These shows present a selection of Don's photographs and interpretations by the six artists. The artworks are displayed in pairs, one photo with the intrepretive painting of it. Deanna will continue to show with this group when she can. Don's website, Art Inspirations shows the current show status and many examples of the work.
The following four images show Deanna's process to get from Don's photo to a painting. The first two are the photos of a mother and baby Javelina. The next is the blind contour drawing, used to proceed to the finished painting. Finally, the finished painting, using water color, acrylic, and hand painted collage papers.
Following those four images are a photo and finished painting of a road runner, done in a very similar fashion.
